Day 10 Cameron & Day 11 Kaycee

Day 10 cameron

Today was for my brother Cameron, he is always so happy and loves life. I wish I could have a view on the world like Cameron. He has always been the greatest uncle to my girls and I love to watch him grow.

Him and his cute wife Kaycee have always been really good with Taylor and Taytum. I love that they love my children so much. Happy birthday Cameron, Thank you for inspiring me today. I love you!

Day 11 Kaycee

Kaycee is that real princess that my children adore. She is the most kind person I have ever met and it is nice to have that as an example for my girls. Kaycee, tomorrow is for you.

Kaycee is a strong health inspiration. She went through some medical issues where they needed to figure things out and change her diet around until they figured out what was wrong and she always did so well in cutting the things out she needed. I remember while they were trying no gluten, my parents house literally got rid of all gluten over night just for Kaycee. We all love you and glad you are in our lives Kaycee.

So to the Lytles (Cameron and Kaycee) :) Thanks for your inspiration and help in my weight loss journey. We miss you guys and hope Logan City is treating you well.

Day 9 Christa

Day 9 Is for Christa Lytle, it is so weird to say Lytle :). She was my first sister, she came into my life when I was a senior and she was a sophomore. I grew up with her older brother and knew just a little about her. I was really relentless to have another girl around ALL THE TIME. But I grew to love and respect her. My girls Love her so much. Taylor and Taytum always talk about Christa and how she took them to feed the ducks. They always remember time with their Aunt and Uncle.

Taytum with Christa

Christa is a very strong woman! Her and Dylan have a love that I have never seen. I hope everyone can find a love like theirs. She was very strong as Dylan was away and became a real health inspiration! She lost 20 pounds while Dylan was on his mission losing all of his weight. She really worked hard for all of it and it was an ispiration to watch.

She is always willing to help with my fitness goals and is always cheering me on and i really appreciate that and it really helps me. I love her like a real sister and i wish that we could bond more. I hope that I can be more like her and one day we can do more sisterly stuff and shop in the same stores. :)

Thank you Christa for your inspiration, love and support. I love you!

Tomorrow is the same goals 2 hours of cardio, 9000 steps, burn 3800 calories, consume 1800 calories.

Day 8 Dylan

Day 8 Dylan

Dylan has always been my little big brother. He has always set an example to me as an older brother would do but he is my younger brother. If that makes any sense? I have always look to him for an example. He sets goals and he accomplishes them, simple as that!

Dylan is a wonderful inspiration when it comes to health. He has always been healthy and fit. He played football from peewee to high school. Once he stopped playing he realized that he needed something else to keep him fit. He made a packed to himself that on his mission he would not gain weight. In the MTC he had created the "Lytle Workout" and during his mission he lost quite a bit of weight and it was weird to see him so skinny once he returned. But running a marathon while serving the lord can do that to you.

He and one of his companions trained and created a coarse and ran a marathon during their transfer together. Once he got home we did a run together and ran the Ogden marathon together. (Long story short he finished I did not!) He really inspires me to reach all of my health and fitness goals. I hope to be the most like him in all that I do.

Tomorrow is for him, I will eat a healthy 1800 calories, do 2 hours of cardio, burn 3800 calories, and walk 9000 steps for him. Tomorrow is his birthday and it is a small gift to him to be healthy for him on his birthday. (Don't worry Dylan, I got you something else too.)

Love you Dylan, Happy Birthday

Day 7 Grandma Elaine Muir

Day 7 Grandma Elaine Muir

Day 7 is for my Grandma Muir, she passed away when I was 14 years old. She was the one who introduced me to sewing, something that I grew to love and cherish. She taught me to take care of myself and to take care of my home.

She called herself the mean grandma, which is my fault. When I was little, maybe 3, I was eating a cookie at her counter. I wanted to get down and play with my cookie, every time I did she would tell me to eat my cookie there. The last time she paddled my butt and I said "My nice grandma lives a long ways from here!" So from then on she was the mean grandma. But she was never that mean to me. I loved her dearly.

She was a brave woman who battled breast cancer and later past away of pneumonia after her body couldn't fight it any more. She was a huge part of my life, taught me many life lessons.

She would give me shopping points every time she came over and my room was clean and my bed was made. I think that is why I always have to have a nice presentation in my home. Because now she is always watching.

We went on a shopping trip every year for school, easter outfits, and my birthday. This was my favorite thing to do growing up. I was the only girl so I got one on one time with her and enjoyed every minute of it. Everytime I am shopping I think of her telling me "One day your going to be shopping without me and miss that I was here to hang up your clothes after you tried them on." I think of that every time I am trying on clothes. Except now there is not alot of clothes that fit me so hanging them up is not much of a chore.

Not anymore, next time I got shopping I will miss my grandma because there will be nothing I can't try on.

Tomorrow is for you grandma. My Fitness goals will be lower because it is the Sabath day and I take that as a day of rest so I will do just 1 hour of cardio, burn 2800 calories and walk the 9000 steps. Also I will eat healthy and eat my 1800 calories.

Thanks grandma for all my wonderful memories of you.

Day 6 Tyson

Day 6 Tyson

Tomorrow is for my older brother Tyson, words cannot express the love I have for my brothers. It is that love-tease relationship that I can't wrap my head around. I was always on the teasing end of the love-tease relationship but I have always known that they love me.

He has always been that protective older brother. When I would ask him to set me up with his friends he would say that they were not good enough for me(even if he was just sparing my feelings I always found that sweet). As we grew older we became closer and would stay up nights talking. But my favorite memory of Tyson was on Valentines Day during 8th grade.

We were on our way to school on Valentines morning and Tyson had told me "remember star". Leaving me so confused thinking wow what a wierdo I went to school. Now, in Junior High you could buy roses for someone and they would deliver it with a note on Valentines Day. I got four that day, one from my brother Tyson and three from my secret admirer. I felt so cool that day no one got that many, just me. After a couple hours of racking my brain I turned my cards over to see a star on the back of all four of them. Not only did he want me to feel special and needed that day but he wanted to make sure I wasn't confused about my so called secret admirer.

Tyson has always helped me with my fitness goals. He wants me to succeed, he was my personal trainer before I got pregnant and took me to the gym every day to help me with my goals then and thinking about him tomorrow will really help with my goal for tomorrow.

So tomorrow is the same burn 3800 calories, eat 1800 healthy calories, 9000 steps, 2 hours of cardio.

Love you Tyson I am and always will be so grateful that you are my big brother. Hopefully I can make that statement true and be your "little"r sister.

Day 5 Dad

Tomorrow is for my Dad. He is a huge inspiration to me, he always treats people in the best way possible. I do not think that he has ever had a bad thought about anyone. He has really taught me how to calmly deal with situations and I have always appreciated that.

He has lost 100 pounds this year and really inspired me to lose weight. He walks over 20 miles per week. I got to go on one of his 10 mile walks with him and I could barely keep up and was so sore that day and he didn't even feel it. He is amazing! I get excited to see him every week to see how far he has come. I wish that I was more like him in many ways and I hope as I embark on this journey I can use him as an example every day.

Tomorrow I will be working out for you dad. 2 hours of cardio, 9000 steps, and I will burn 3800 calories. I will also eat healthy all day and eat just my alotted 1800 calories. Love you Daddy!

Day 4 Mom

I would like to accomplish tomorrows goals for my mom. She is my hero, she had 5 children in 5 years, raised them right, kept her sanity and followed her dreams. She is an author and works her fingers to the bone loving every minute of it.

I want to be just like her, she knows what she wants and she goes for it. She was always there for me and followed her dreams. I truely respect her and love her for all that she has done for me and for my children. She is a wonderful grandmother and always treats them like gold.

So tomorrow I will do eat a healthy 1800 calories, 2 hours of cardio, burn 3800 calories, and walk 9000 steps for her.

Thank mom for always supporting me and pushing me to keep my goals!

Logan

Tomorrow I would like to reach my goals for Logan. He was the first person that I met in this world. I think that we also had a strong connection in heaven, or Heavenly Father would not have sent us together. He has taught me patience, love, and humility.

My mother always told me that because Logan and I were twins, I am a big reason why Logan is here and why he survived. I don't know how accurate that is and why that is but that means I am truly ment for something important. Right? For those of you that don't know Logan has downsyndrome and autism. He is and always will be my first love!

Growing up with Logan was not always easy, he did not keep up with us while we played and that was frustrating. But that is how he taught me to have patience. Yet, teaching that to other kids on the playground at school was not as simple.

Logan always has a smile on his face and is excited about everything. He has such a big heart and loves Taylor and Taytum. He is such a blessing in my life that I love being around him and making him smile. I am grateful that he can teach my children to love and respect everyone the way he has taught me.

Tomorrow I will be thinking of him while I reach my goals today. 2800 calories, 2 hours of cardio, and 9000 steps all for Logan.

Love you Logs

Day 1 again

Here we go again, doesn't it always seem that way? I am here to show you my journey if you are interested. I have been "DiEtInG" for much too long. Now I am going to listen to my body and push it hard when I am in need to. I have no secret, I have no over night miracle cure for my obesity. I have hit an all time high of 305 pounds and was just disscusted with myself because I had made a promise to myself that I would not get there ever!

So here I am starting over, day 1! This will be my last day one ever, I have had so many. This does not mean that I will fall, because I know that I will fall alot. But my journey includes getting right back up when I fall. That is the plan, I can do that.

I want to be SEXY that is my goal. No Numbers or scales will get me down. I will weigh in once a month to see that I have made progress that I need. I made a promise to myself not to step on the scale during the month of October, which I gave in and stepped on the scale yesturday. I weighed in at 296 that is my starting weight now.

Every day I will be dedicating my day to a certain person that has influenced me. I have alot of people to be thankful for and losing weight for me has been my goal for a long time but I need more motivation. So yes Day 1 is for ME! I am going to reach my goals for the day for ME today. So watch out I may dedicate a day to you one day, you never know who will be next.

I feel really great and have been feeling great and working out for a week now and I love feeling this way. I have a goal of 2 hours of moderate activity every day, 9000 steps, and to burn 3800 calories every day. I love when my body bugg watch beeps at me telling me I have reached one of my goals for the day and I cannot wait to hear it again.

I have learned that eating chocolate is nothing compared to the excitment I get about a workout finished or the look I get while shopping knowing I will be able to shop at ALL stores by March. Or feeling great about the food choices that I made throughout the day. I LOVE it!

Can't wait to be sexy!

XOXO

BEFORE

AFTERS

Rebekahs Fitness Challenge Story

Short Version: Weight Loss is all about motivation and timing.

Long Version:

Before the Challenge: In the last ten years, my husband has done five years of grad school and then spent several years building a multiple-office law practice. During this time we also had five kids, currently ranging in age from ten months to eight years old. Although there has been much joy and big successes, there have been many moments of utter exhaustion and intense stress. During these times, I let myself be an emotional eater. Reese’s peanut Butter Cups, apple pie, brownies, ice cream, chocolate chip cookies—you name it. Consuming sugar is what got me through those tough times.

Finally after the birth of our fifth child, I got a membership to our local club and began swimming laps. My coach let me know right off that exercise only makes up about 20% of weight loss, food choices make up the other 80%. So I started getting myself mentally prepared to start some sort of diet after Christmas.

I was considering some sort of crash diet, but realized this would only fix my problem temporarily. Yes, I might lose lots of weight, but I would gain it all back if my habits had not changed. The Challenge: When I heard about the Challenge, I knew it would be a perfect way to keep me motivated. I really liked the idea of weekly goals and being accountable for my weight each week.

I opted not to do any crash diet, but to eat normal foods and just limit myself. So I started counting calories using an app called “My Fitness Pal.” The first week I chose to do the “move more challenge.” This completely opened my eyes to some of the habits I had resorted to after years of being pregnant and nursing babies. While some of these habits had been appropriate at those times, I realized it was time for me to change. Instead of feeling more tired, I felt great moving more.

The other challenges that really helped me were the 64oz. of water a day and the wheat only challenge. I use to really dislike wheat. Suddenly though, when it was my only option, I started to really like it. I find it does taste good and it makes me feel fuller than white flour products. Drinking a tall glass of water before meals really has helped me too since I eat less throughout the day.

The other challenge that really helped was eating more veggies. I know that a lot of my weight loss came because I really tried to make veggies my main focus throughout my day. Someone told me that when you look at your dinner plate at meal time, it should be 2/3 full of fruits and veggies. I often ate a steamer of veggies as a whole meal along with a slice of wheat bread or a bagel. I ate tons of salad. I also found myself really trying to get my family to eat more veggies too.

I was complaining to a friend that all my kids ever ate was Mac &Cheese and hot dogs. She pointed out though that as moms we are the ones who buy it. Very true. So I remembered that and kept the veggies available. Surprisingly, my kids really do love veggies and eating simpler, healthier food.

Although, I never approached my exercise as my main means of losing weight, I did try consistently to get to the pool at least 3 times a week. I felt so much better physically, mentally and emotionally when I had done a good work out. My family has seen what a difference it has made, so they have been very supportive.

After the Challenge: I am really excited that I won, but not necessarily for myself. I wanted to prove that people can be healthy, eat normal food (yes, I did eat cheesecake, have a cookie now and then) and still lose lots of weight. The key for me was being disciplined most of the time—not all the time because every once and awhile you need to give yourself a break from the “1200 calories only” rule. But I do believe that busy women with kids, pursuits, etc. can eat well and lose weight too.

I really feel like there is a time and season for weight loss. Of course, we should all try to be healthy throughout our lives. For me though, I feel strongly that there is a time and place for it. We shouldn’t beat ourselves up for getting a second bowl of ice cream. Often that second round of dessert is what gets us through another day. Then there comes a time though for everyone, when they can let go of those habits and lean on healthier ones to feel happier.

What helped me lose weight—

--Tall glass of water before breakfast.

--Greek yogurt and fruit for breakfast (keeps you full and has protein in it)

--Four servings of veggies a day.

--If I did go out to eat for lunch with friends, then I kept dinner limited to a salad.

--I tried to eat only one-two carbs and dairy a day.

--limited snacks and snitching while cooking.

--really limited sugar. Your body burns veggies and healthy foods way faster then sugar.

--No eating after dinner.

--Weigh yourself before breakfast. Your weight is lower at the beginning of the day.

My motivation for the week

I would like to share an email I received from one of my contestants

Message body
Thanks, Lyndsi.

So, a quick story for you. On new year's eve, I helped a friend move a piano and as a result, I pinched a nerve in my back and have literally not been able to sit, stand or walk for 2 weeks! It has been a terrible experience- I've seen 3 doctors and have been visiting the chiropractor several times a week.

But the challenge has kept me eating right. I have been losing weight consistently and think I will have a really good weigh-in tomorrow. (I'll send the numbers in the afternoon). My back is improving and I hope that through my weight loss, I will be much less likely to injure myself again. (I will also never help move a piano again!)

Anyway, thanks for doing this challenge. It is helping me stay on track. You are helping good things happen and I am appreciative. All the best,

- Joel
